How This Works

HELLO! PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING:

Here is where I am selling clothes that I no longer wear—or didn't even wear in the first place. Most are sizes small to medium and from H&M, Zara, J. Crew, and similar shops. There are a few upscale finds, as well.

DETAILS
  • Everything is very, very gently worn, free of stains, and washed. I promise!
  • Everything is priced to include shipping (with the assumption that shipping is approximately equivalent to $3).
  • I am open to price negotiations, but I think everything is reasonably priced. I based my prices on what I'd want to pay, not necessarily what I'd like to receive.
  • Each article of clothing for sale has its own blog post. Articles of clothing are organized by tags. You can sort by tags to browse.
  • What isn't sold will be donated to a D.C.-area charity.
HOW IT WORKS
  • Email me at buyalexsclothes@gmail.com. In the body of the email, tell me the name of what you want to buy with the item's permalink (so I don't screw anything up). Also in the body of the email, tell me your address.
  • Pay me via PayPal.
  • I will ship your purchase within a week of your payment.
  • If you don't get it, I'll refund you. If you're extra cranky, PayPal has the option to open a dispute with a seller.
BONUS!
  • I have a surplus of paperbacks lying around. For an extra $7 ($5 for the book, $2 for shipping), I will throw in a paperback. It will be a surprise, and I can't guarantee you'll love it, but it's a half-priced book and sorta fun, too. Just tell me you'd like a book in the body of your email.
WHY AM I SELLING MY CLOTHES MYSELF, RATHER THAN DONATING TO CHARITY OR CONSIGNING?
  • Consigning in D.C. is a pretty huge ripoff unless you have a designer wardrobe. There aren't any Buffalo Exchanges or Plato's Closets nearby, either.
  • I've literally worn these clothes a max of two or three times, if at all. This is nicer stuff that's in good condition and I don't want to donate it right off the bat. What isn't sold will be donated, but I wanted to attempt to sell it first.
WHERE IS THIS MONEY GOING?
  • Since many people run sales like this to raise money for a cause, I feel obliged to disclose that I'm doing this because I have a capitalist side. I like to make and spend money. Most of the things I buy are groceries, books, accessories for my bike, and things related to traveling (specifically, train tickets). What you spend here will go into my bank account, either to my savings (which will help me out significantly when I go back to grad school) or to the aforementioned types of things (my bike really needs fenders, for example). Just so you know, the selling of my clothes is really not likely to go into the purchase of still more clothes; a bonus of this effort is a smaller wardrobe.
Any questions? Email buyalexsclothes@gmail.com and I'll try to get back to you ASAP. Thank you for shopping!
